Aston Martin uses a filming day to run the new engine from Honda which will make its race debut at Zandvoort.

The new engine, which comes days after the team's much anticipated upgrade to its car, was run by Jak Crawford, while Audi and Alpine continued with tyre testing for Pirelli.

There is no official word on how things went, though there is speculation that it is a significant improvement, with Crawford reporting no vibrations.

Unofficially, there are claims that the engine is up around 35bhp on its predecessor, which would equate to around 0.4s a lap.

Speaking at the weekend, ahead of the engine's debut, which came on Fernando Alonso's 45th birthday, Honda's Trackside General Manager and Chief Engineer, Shintaro Orihara had made clear the importance of the first outing.

"In Hungary, we have been supporting the team with the power unit integration," he told reporters. "We've also been able to collect vital data, which will help us come the next race.

"We will now take the important step of introducing our new-spec power unit in the Netherlands," he added. "Before then, during Wednesday's filming day, we will run the new engine in the AMR26 for the first time, before the summer shutdown commences."

In Hungary, Alonso made it to Q2 for the first time this season, consequently the positivity around the car upgrade and new engine will no doubt send Aston Martin into the summer break feeling far more confident for when the season resumes at the end of next month.
